When I left my previous job at Pretty Lake, I made a mini zine titled concerning saying goodbye as a parting gift to my coworkers. The zine consisted of photos that I made during my time there, and I wanted to honor the time I spent getting to know my coworkers and land that had been a constant refuge for me. During my last days there, I spent time at the pond (my absolute favorite place at Pretty Lake), exposed three rolls of film, and developed them on site using the pond water. The idea of processing photos in this way had come to me a couple of years ago and I now consider these images to be the first part of my source/water project.

source/water: a response to late-stage capitalism and escalating climate catastrophe, i create analog images by exposing and developing photographic film on-site, using the location’s available water supply and foraged materials to create place specific developers.

Three of these images appear in The KZOO COMPILATION, Vol. 2, by KZOO ZINE FEST.
